On 11 March 2020 it was announced that Usyk would fight Dereck Chisora at The O2 Arena in London on 23rd May. The Usyk vs Chisora Live will broadcast live on Sky Sports Box Office as a pay-per-view event. Dereck Chisora’s current manager is former British heavyweight David Haye. Chisora and Haye clashed back in 2011. In a ring side dispute Hayeaand Chisora started trash talking to one another. The verbal clash quickly escalated in to a brawl. Chisora had his licence to Box revoked for a year due to this incident. Soon after the two clashed again.

Oleksandr Usyk Career
Олекса́ндр Олекса́ндрович У́сик a.k.a Oleksandr Usyk was born in Simferopol, Crimean Oblast, Ukrainian SSR on 17 January 1987. Usyk was a very athletic from early childhood. He received training at the SC Tavriya Simferpol specialized sports school of Olympic reserve in soccer. In 2002,at 15yrs of age Usyk switched to boxing and has never looked back since. The cruiserweight is also a graduate of Lviv State University of Physical Culture located in Lviv, Ukraine.
Usyk won gold medals in the heavyweight division at the 2011 World Championships and 2012 Olympics. He turned professional the very next year. By his tenth fight Usyk claimed his first world tittle. And by his fifteenth professional match he became the undisputed champion in his weight class in 2018.
He also won the covoted Muhammad Ali Trophy in the World Boxing Super Series. Three of Usyk’s tittle victory were during the inaugural of the series.By his sixteenth fight,Usyk had defeated five reigning or former world champions. Usyk was named Fighter of the Year by Sports Illustrated,ESPN in 2018 for all his accomplishments.
Oleksandr Usyk is the first Ukranian boxer to hold the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF tittles simultaneously. After Crawford, Jermain Taylor, Bernard Hopkins, and Cecilia Brækhus, Usyk is only fifth boxer in history to do so. As of 2019, he is ranked as the world’s fifth best active boxer by the Transnational Boxing Ranking Board and The Ring, and sixth by ESPN.
Usyk turned pro at the age of 26. In late 2013 he signed a promotional deal with K2 Promotions to fight in the cruiserweight division. Vitali Klitschko and Wladmir Klitschko, the owners of K2 Promotions are former professional boxers hailing from Ukraine.
Usyk made his professional debut against, Mexican fighter Felipe Romero on November 9th,2013. He won the bout by a fifth round knockout.
Usyk’s first tittle shot came against the South African boxer Daniel Bruwer. On 4th October,2014 Usyk won the interim WBO Inter-Continental cruiserweight title via a seventh round technical knock-out (TKO). He would then go to defend his tittle four times. Usyk vs Głowacki
In 2016 Usyk vs. Glowacki was announced. Krzysztof Glowacki was set to defend his WBO cruiserweight tittle on 17 September, at the Ergo Arena, Gdansk. Usyk trainner James Ali Bashir wanted to hire Antonio Tarver as a sparring partner. But things did not go as planned as Tarver’s asked for sky high rates. Both the fighters entered the ring with a undefeated streak.
Usyk dominated the fight with his superior footwork. Early in the fight, Glowacki got injured above the eye and kept bleeding for the remainder of the fight. After an exciting 12-round fight, Oleksandr Usyk emerged victorious with judges’ decision in his favour. This decision win also put an end to Usyk’s knock-out streak.
Usyk vs Mchunu
Usyk made his American debut against the 28 year old South African boxer Thabiso Mchunu. Usyk alongside K2 Promotions,announced that Usyk’s tittle defense would take place on 17 December 2016 and the fight would take place at the Forum in Inglewood, California. People started to ‘Boo’ with displeasure as it was early slow fight. But Usyk gained control and ended the match by a ninth round knock-out. This win would also mark his HBO debut.
Usyk vs Hunter
Oleksandr Usyk made his second HBO appearence on 8 April 2017,defending his tittle yet again. This time against the undefeated Michael Hunter. Usyk took an unexpected beating in the first three rounds of the bout. In the fourth round he would retalliate with hard blows to Hunter’s body. The fight ended in 12th round and Usyk would claim a fairly one sided victory.
World Boxing Super Series
World Boxing Super Series was held in September 2017 and July 2018. Oleksandr Usyk along with seven other cruiserweights took part in this bracket style tournament. The winner of the series would receive The Muhammad Ali trophy.
Usyk vs Huck
In the first leg of the series, Usyk was pitted against former WBO champion Marco Huck(40-4-1). The fight was to take place in the vetern’s hometown of Berlin at the Max-Schmeling-Halle arena. During a press conference of the fight Huck pushed Usyk. But Usyk remained very calm and professional with only the trophy in his sight.
On fight night Usyk used his impressive footwork to bury Huck in a tenth round technical knock out. He taunted Huck through out the game as response to shove at the press-conference. Huck struggled the entered fight as Usyk continued to land combinations. Finally the referee called it off in the tenth round.
Usyk vs Briedis
In the semi final stage of the Super Series Usyk was facing a undefeated Mairis Briedis. Usyk stated this was the hardest fight of his carrer. The first few rounds of the fight was very closely contested. But Usyk gained control from round five with his hard jabs. Briedis was able to land a few haed shots but the final decision went in Usyk’s favour. One judge even scored the fight 114-114. With this win, Usyk cemented his place as a final round contender of the Super Series.
Usyk vs Gassiev
In the finals, Usyk was set to match Murat Gassiev originally in Jeddah, Saudia Arabia. Unfortunately, he chuffed an elbow injury during a regular training session and the fight was pushed back. The secretary general of the Russian Boxing Federation used this opportunity to outbid Saudi Arabia for the finals to take place in Russia. Finally on June,29 the fight was officially rescheduled for 21st July at the Olympic Stadium, Moscow, Russia.
Oleksandr Usyk again demonstrated his impressive footwork and fierce combinations and gained control of the fight from a early stage. In wasn’t until the end of eighth round Gassiev was able to land his first solid punch. Usyk simply outclassed and outfoxed the powerful Gassiev. The scoring of the match was very one-sided. And Oleksandr Usyk was declared the winner via unanimous decision. This made him the first four belt undisputed cruiserweight champion in history.
After the fight Usyk was awarded the trophy by Muhammd Ali’s widow Lonnie Ali.

Usyk vs Bellew
After becoming the undisputed champion of his weight class, Usyk was asked whom would he like to fight next.
Bellew gladly accepted the challenge via social media and insisted for the fight to take place in 2018. He also added that he would not much to gain at a heavyweight fight. And proposed that,the fight had to be for the undisputed cruiserweight championship. The vetern also said that it would be his last fight as a professional boxer.
After a few positive back and fourths between Bellew’s promoter Eddie Hearn and K2 promotions,it was officially declared that the tittle fight would take place 10 November,2018.After Usyk had signed a multi-fight contract with Matchroom Boxing, Manchester Arena was selected as the venue for the epic showdown. This would also mean that he was fighting exclusively on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.
In a weigh in before the match Bellew weighted 199.25lbs and Usyk came in at 198lbs. The first round of the fight was very slow. It was a ‘feeling out’ round as both the boxers showed each other respect. The crowd started to boo as the round came to an end due to the lack of action. During the second round, Bellew manged to land a few clean hits and started to showboat. But, in the third round Usyk punished Bellew for his overconfidence.
Using his impressive footwork Usyk and started to take jabs at the former heayweight. By the fourth round Usyk had tired out Bellew and forced him to back up against the ropes. He took quite a few hits but Usyk keep his control for the rest of the fight. At the end of the eighth round Usyk landed a hard left causing Bellew to loose his balance. Another two hard lefts caused a nose bleed and the refree was forced to stop to the match. Oleksandr Usyk tittle reign continued.
In the post fight ceremony Bellew announced his retirement from boxing, saying; “I have been doing this for 20 years, and it is over.” He commended his Usyk on his victory.
Dereck Chisora Career
Dereck Chisors a.k.a. ‘Del Boy’ was born in Mbare, a Zimbabwean suburb located in the capital Harare. He was born on the 29th december,1983. At the age of 16, Chisora and his family moved to the United Kingdom. This British boxer won the ABA Super Heavyweight Championship during his amateur years. He has held the British and Commonwealth titles as well as European tittles.
Chisora madeahis professional debut on 2007 against the Hungarian heavyweight István Kecskés. Chisora remained victorious for the next three games. Then he faced a fellow heavyweight fighter, Sam Sexton. This would prove to be the toughest bout of Chisora’s career. Win only 30 seconds remaining on the clock, Sexton was was stopped. Chisora barely managed to retain his indefeated streak that night. By the end of the second year of his career, Dereck Chisora remained undefeated with a 8-0 record.
In May of 2009 Chisora was suspended for four months for biting Paul Butlin in a shameless display of poor sportsmanship. This suspension caused him a fine of £2,500 and a tittle match against Danny Williams.
On May 2010 Chisora would get another tittle shot against Danny Williams. Prior to the fight he stated that “It was my own fault the fight with Williams didn’t go ahead, and I’ve been kicking myself ever since.” He defeated Williams for the British heavyweight championship belt. After defeating a challenge from Sam Sexton, Chisora added the Commonwealth heavyweight title to his name.
Chisora vs Helenius
On the 3rd December,2011, Chisora faced the Finnish professional Robert Helenius. The fight took place in Helsinki,Finland for the vacant European heavyweight tittle. By the end of the fight Chisora was clearly the better fighter. But, many were stunned after two judges scored the fight in Helenius’s favour giving him the victory. Furious at the decision, Chisora demanded a a rematch on a neutral territory.
The following year did not prove to be Chisora’s year either as he lost to the Ukrainian WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko for the tittle. In the post match ceremony, Chisora and former British boxer David Haye started trash talking. This quickly escalated to brawl between the two. At one pont Haye threw a camera tripod at Chisora.
The British Boxing Board of Control withdrew Chisora’s licence for this behavior and sentenced him to mandatory anger management treatment.
Chisora vs Scott
A year later after his ban, The British Boxing Board of Control re-issued Dereck Chisora’s licence on 12 March,2013. Chisora apologized for the way he acted.
On July 20,2013 Chisora made his return against the undefeated american professional boxer Malik ‘KING’ Scott. The fight took place at the Wembley Arena for the vacant WBO International Heavyweight tittle. Throughout the bout, Scott was warned by the referee for repeated fouling and clinching, but was not penalized.
But during the sixth round Scott received a hard right hand and fell down. Although he got up at nine, the referee counted him out and awarded Chisora the tittle. Scott’s promoter protested the fight and loged a formal application for investigation into the controversial decision. But the BBB of C refused to review the fight.
Chisora vs Gerber
Chisora got his second shot at the European Heavyweight Champion in September,2013. Earlier that month, an announcement was made that Chisora would take on the German boxer Edmund Gerber for then vacant European Heavyweight tittle. Following the loss of his mentor Dean Powell, a grieving Chisora entered the ring.
Chisora gained control of the game very early on. By the end of round three Gerber was bleeding as a result of Chisora’s hard rights. The referee had to stop the fight in the fifth round because of the brutal combination of Chisora. He dedicated his victory in his late memory in the post match event.
Chisora successfully defend his tittle against Ondřej Pála. The fight was also for the then vacant WBA International heavyweight title.
Chisora vs Fury
Chisora’s fight against fellow British heavyweight Tyson Fury was commercialized as ‘The Fight for the Right’ as it was a final eliminator for the WBO heavyweight title and a shot at champion Wladimir Klitschko. From the beginning of the match, Chisora struggled with Fury’s height, reach and movement. Fury used his jab to trouble Chisora throughout the game. Finally, in the tenth round the referee intervened and stopped the match. This loss also caused him the European and WBO International heavyweight titles.
Over the next three years Dereck Chisora had a love-hate relation with the sport. Although he pulled through in many undercard level entries, failed to win in any major tittle match.
Chisora vs Takam
On 15 June 2015 it was announced that Chisora would fight the former world title challenger Carlos Takam at the 02 Arena in London for the vacant WBA International heavyweight title. On 28 July 2018 Chisora faced Takam on Sky Box Office. Takam started to out work Chisora from the first bell.
Chisora started taking more punishment as the rounds progressed. He failed to land any viable punches and spent most of time trying to either dodge or counter. However in the eighth round Chisora landed a big right hand to Takam’s head causing him to fall. Takam managed to get back to his feet but was unable to recover fully. As soon as the fight resumed Chisora connected for the second time and finally dropped Takam.
